    Toast to Matt Newsome

Since there is now brotherhood of us that enjoy and appreciate our Matt Newsome built box pleats (and the occasional knife pleat) it's about fitting that we raise a glass in his honour. This Sunday is April 6th "Tartan Day". I propose that we duely raise that toast in our Matt Newsome kilt. Along with a picture include a description of the tartan and other essentials. for those that are currently awaiting their first Newsome, are contemplating joining the long list or just want to say 'Thanks Matt' please feel freee to also join in.

Grant, that's a fantastic idea! I will certainly join in. Both for being in the queue, and for having just finished his book, "Early Highland Dress". Wonderful, highly recommended!

No photo for this, but I'd just like to thank Matt for his many contributions to Xmarks.

    Regards,

    Thumbs up

Hear, hear! I'm in Matt's queue for my first kilt. I salute Matt for his unquestionable skill and artistry, his studiousness in all things kiltish, his indefatigable willingness to educate without a hint of condescension even in the face of willful ignorance, and his unwavering good nature. He is a man among men.

Being the proud owner of one of Matt's box pleated kilts (shown here in the picture: 4 yard box pleated in the Henderson weathered tartan), with TWO on order (4 yard box pleated kilts in Carolina District Tartan and Burns Check), I'm glad to raise a toast to Mr. Newsome. You truly are an invaluable member of the rabble, Matt! Hear Here!

As the proud owner of Matt's 101st kilt I will gladly raise my glass in his honor.

Matt you are a skilled kiltmaker, a knowledgeable scholar, a dapper dresser, and best of all a nice guy! We are very lucky to have you as part of our rabble.

    Cheers Matt!

My Matt Newsome ancient Lamont knife pleated kilt is my best kilt. It is my only kilt but I feel if it were my 10th kilt, it would still be my best. I have had lots of complements on it being excellent workmanship.

I found Matt before I found Xmarks so I did not know of most of the other great kilt makers who live here who I did not know about at the time. I will say Matt was far more helpful and very patient than the other kiltmakers with all my newbie questions. Most of the emails I sent to others got no response or did not answer my questions so I could understand. (none of the kilt makers here were in that group I contacted)

I also enjoy watching Matt answer the multitude of celtic appearal questions.

    THANKS Matt

We may not all (yet) own one of his masterpieces but for all his sage wise and knowledgeable contributions he still deserved a toast!
