All You Need is Love-The Great XMTS Beatles Thread
A few of the Moderators were chatting about music and we discovered that one of our number doesn't like The Beatles!* (It was also determined that a couple of the "Mod Squad" LOVE the Beatles enough to make up the difference).
So I thought it would be fun for fans of the original Fab Four here on X Marks the Scot to list:
(1) Favorite Beatles Album
(2) Favorite Beatles Song
(3) Favorite Beatle
and (optional)
(4) Favorite Beatles Memory.
In addition I have put up a poll for the favorite Beatle period.
Cheers
Jamie
*We have issued him an infraction as well a copy of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

You need an option "ALL" LOL. Seriously, they were great throughout all periods of their music. I simply cannot pick just one. I love the Sgt. Pepper's, however, but the White Album was phenomenal as well (save Revolution No. 9). And yet, there is Abbey Road, which is another gem. All are from different periods and exceptionally good. Also, I am not sure if you can cite Yellow Submarine as a true Album since it was composed mainly of already existing music of theirs, except for a couple songs like "Hey Bulldog" and "All Together Now".

Totally!! I tried to vote for "all". Like really good novels, i was left wanting more - even did 'mixed tapes' ( as a # of others, no doubt) of "post-break-up" records, to makes "Beatles" records. Still listen to LPs & 45's ( dating myself or ?) of all of your periods; not every day, but often. There are days/moments, that just seem to be to the soundtrack of their music - and I hope i always will.

I have their entire catalog of songs on my MP3 Player. Been listening to them all day.

Well, I'm not that into the Beatles myself, but I do have several close relatives who really like them, so I suppose I know enough to venture an opinion:
Favorite Beatles Album: Headquarters
Favorite Beatles Song: "Daydream Believer"
Favorite Beatle: Peter Tork
Favorite Beatles Cover: "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone" by the Sex Pistols
Favorite Beatles Memory: "Rock On" interview with Ian Curtis and Stephen Morris

Where to start... Put me in the Rubber Soul to Revolver camp though ANY Beatles song is worth a listen. In fact I have written instructions that "In my life" and "Blackbird" are to be played at my funeral along with "Amazing Grace." Lets hope that's in the distant future shall we?
Favorite song/album - impossible, depends too much on my mood.
Favorite Beatle - Paul, especially during his Scottish "exile."
Favorite Memory...
Sitting on the floor beside my sister in front of our fuzzy black and white TV watching the first Beatles performance on the Ed Sullivan Show. My parents an grandparents sat on the couch behind us tisking and tutting and clucking their obvious disapproval.
It was at that precise moment that I understood that I was different from my parents and that my life would never be the same again.

LOL! I will put myself out there for the abuse and say that I don't really care for the Beatles either. I respect them as musicians but I just don't listen to their music.
I think to be fair that you should add to you poll the option that people don't like them. Just out of curiosity to see whether or not I stand alone on this one.
That being said though, you are looking for favorite Beatle memories so if you don't want people saying negative things I understand. I personally have nothing negative to say about them, just not my cup of tea.

I'm right there with you. I've always thought they were fantastic song writers, but mediocre musicians. On that note the movie "Across The Universe" that came out last year, is one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Other people performing the Beatles, and you can't go wrong.

Favourite Beatles period: long before Hello,Goodbye and long after Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. The Beatles have gone into the history books as the first group to dominate the music scene by savvy marketing. The beginning of the "Beatles Era", was for me the beginning of my exploration of Classical, Celtic, and Country/Western music. I thank the Beatles for driving me away from the Rock Music scene for my teen and college years. I was born in 1951, and started trying to find a music that I could enjoy in the very early sixties. Many promising talents were starting to show up on the airwaves, when the big hoof of over marketed Beatles dominated the airwaves and snuffed out a promising variety to the rock scene for several years. Many of these bands and people resorted to doing Country - Rock crossover as a way to survive, bringing in the era of "underground" radio and the emergence of a new music scene. Just as the parents of my generation were always yelling "turn that rock junk down." my children are yelling to their young'uns "turn that rap junk down."
The more we change the more we stay the same.
Count me in with the Mod who is not a Beatles fan, I am sure there are many more of us on the board.
