When I post here on XMTS
I think about my little son who often leans over my shoulder as I am writing here on XMTS. He is a pretty good reader and anything I write is something that I want to be proud of. It can be silly or funny but I never want to feel I have to keep him from reading what I write.
I think how lucky we are here to have quite a few Kilted Clergy. I can't imagine writing something here I wouldn't say in front of a a priest, nun, minister, or rabbi.
I think that as a gentleman I should never be vulgar and use language I wouldn't use in front of a lady.
I think that here in the weird wonderful world of the internet we posters are given this amazing opportunity to think a moment before we hit the "Submit Reply" button. Like the Wizard of BC wrote recently, there are times when I choose to hit "delete" instead.
Rex Tremende made a wise comment once about how the price we pay to be part of this great place is that we sometimes have to leave a part of ourselves at the door. We don't always get to talk about what we want or say things how we might like to say them.
There is so much here to enjoy; the good natured banter , the great information, the history, the comradery, the get togethers, the laughter, and the joy and pride we all share in our love for things kilted. This forum has given me the chance to get to know a wide variety of people; men and women, gay and straight, of differing nationalities, religions, and politics. For this I am a richer person.
I think that is worth taking a bit of care when posting.
Cheers
Jamie

In a democracy it's your vote that counts; in feudalism, it's your Count that votes.

Hear! Hear! This is a fun place to be. If one has a bad day one can just do !$#@&X!^%+!! and it's meaning is ample without getting graphic.
(Now if our tongues could do that things would be much more pleasant).

Here Here Jamie - I couldn't agree with you more. Every community has its own unique character and this community is worth protecting and respecting. As my dear sister said once - when in doubt - don't.

I agree. There have been many times, when I have not replied because I felt what I would say had already been said.

Goodness gracious FATHER! I am shocked, considering the source. That is much more of an inference than I am comfortable with...as a lady.
Thank God that there is a higher authority to answer to after all.
I agree in general with the first post. This world is full of those that may prey on our childen. My kids 11, 9 and 7 sit with me most eves whilst I post on several forums.
I post nothing that I wouldn't dare share with them, The 300+ kids I counsel daily, or my 70+ year old parents. That is my guideline.

Agreed
[QUOTE=BoldHighlander;498955]So very well said Jamie
I find this place such a welcome refuge from the rest of the web....
I frequent many wonderful family friendly sites where members are less severe and towards one another. Nothing wrong with humor, mixed with intelligence and kindness.

My son, a computer geek, always says, "Think, edit, speak or write." I wish more people would.
DALE.
You don't have to be Scottish to be comfortable!
