Heading for California!!!
Well, that's it. We've got our places and everything is all planned and sorted out.
Diane and I will be heading out to Asilomar on the 31st of October and leaving on the evening of the 2nd November.
I'll be there as a non-dancer but I still get to attend two or possibly even 3 dances that weekend!
AND, since I will be paying for the majority of the trip I have been given permission to buy a nice new kilt from USAKilts for the event!!!
(Probably the Claddish or the American Heritage.)
I'll have the Saturday to myself because that's just the workshop for the dancers there, so I MIGHT try to find some way to bother some of the NorCal rabble, but if not I might just enjoy the beach for the day.
Anyway.
I am wildly excited and ready to brush up on my dancing for the grand balls while I am there.

If you get here EARLY on the 31st, I *THINK* that is Beer and Kilts night at the Devils Canyon Brewery. It will be wild, 'cause it will be Halloween. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Asilomar up to where we meet, though.
but if you make it, the first pint's on me!

One of these years you should try the workshop at Fort Warden, on the Puget Sound. It's sponsered by the Seattle RSCDS, and is help at Fort Warden, near portl Townsend. We stay in officer housing, and it is just a wonderful event.

I think (and with all due respect to Marvel Comics) the call is ...
NOR CAL RABBLE ASSEMBLE!

That sounds fantastic. Diane was born in Seattle so I've heard a lot about Puget Sound. Maybe she and I will be able to head out for that one, too. (Each year the dance group does Portland, Oregon and Asilomar. I don't think they'd mind adding another North West one!)

Who are your group? I just "retired" as president of the Portland club.

The group is The Thistle and Ghillies, Boise, Idaho. The teachers were Monica and Cheri and my wife Diane has just become the third teacher.
I know she's danced with the Portland group when she lived in Oregon and went to the last workshop in Portland a few months ago.
Small world!

Thanks for the well wishes and the invites!
We have to be there for the evening on the 31st to get registered and be at the dance, but by evening they mean 5pm, so I don't know that I would make it to the NorCal rabble's kilt night on that night.
Diane and I might be heading out so that we arrive on the 30th, though. So if you guys had anything going on that night we'd be able to make it.
The whole Asilomar event is so tucked in that there's very little time to do anything but dance.
It will be great fun, though!
