New York City Tartan Day Parade 2009
Marched again this year in the New York City Tartan Day Parade. The weather cooperated! Here are some pics the wife took...
Start of the parade. Notice the man standing behind the mounted cop who's holding the Scottish flag. Want's to make sure no one messes up their Ghillie Borgues!
Here's the Grand Marshall, Scottish actor Alan Cummings in the tweed outfit
The Pipe Bands...
The Old Guard...
The Tartan Army and their humongous caber (beautifully carved)...
Check out this rabble! This is the group I march with. A fine mixture of Scots, Irish and anyone else. They're billed as the "Horny Highlanders" (see head gear)
That's me in the foreground, bringing up the rear...
I think this photo shows a few other XMarkers enjoying the parade...
End of the parade. A great day!

I don't think that's a regulation caber! Wowsas that's big.

Yes, indeed. The three X-markers you point out are myself (Cirthalion), Galician, and Baysideboy. Galician, myself, and my wife (Arathilien, who is also visible on that photo) went on to have a fabulous time at the after-party at Stout on 33rd.

Right, I had searched for other photos of the parade and came across the photos posted of your gathering. As I was posting mine, I was surprised to notice you in my photo (it was the red tam that caught my eye).
Glad to hear you all had a great time!

Looks like a great day, I met the Grand Marshal of your parade tonight in Toronto at our Scot of the Year awards. I have to ask, what tartan are you wearing?

Wow, Mr. Cummings is getting a lot of mileage out of Tartan Week!
The tartan I'm wearing is American National pleated to the red stripe - kilt is by House of Edgar.

Good eye! Now I'm glad I wore the cap, but it's not a tam, it's the traditional cap of Catalonia in Spain. I should try to get a shot of it to post here, it's high and flops down on one side.

Nice photos. I like the pipe band headgear.
