World's strongest beers.
I found this article online when I was looking to find what the alcohol content was in Sam Adams Utopia.
http://beeradvocate.com/articles/501. I'd like to try some of these, but I don't think I'd go $200 for a bottle of beer.

World Wide Stout and Raison d'Extra are both extremely good and can be had for a reasonable price. I'm extremely luck in that there's a DogFishHead Alehouse 15 minutes from my house and they regularly have these on draught. Both bottle well though, so if you can find em in your area, you're in for a treat.

Unless my memory has failed me{which it often does} some of the "potato beer" drank while stationed in Okinawa,USMC,3rd F.S.R. was much stronger.
Any other ol'timers on here experience the same.

Dogfish' World Wide Stout is a pretty good beer if you can find it!

I'm quite partial to Dogfish Head beers.

Ditto. They have several really interesting and unique beers. Their Raison D'etre is my favorite that is priced in the "can drink daily" range. World Wide Stout and Raison D'extra are amazing, but a little pricey for me.

there is a point where the alcohol content of beer gets too high to be called beer and is then called barley wine (wine made from grain not fruit). I forget the percentage but it might be 10-12 %. Most of the ones I have tried are not very tasty, too bitter for me.

But, it's really not a wine; it's still a beer.

As novel as that is, the higher alcohol content does not a better beer make. I'll stick with my 4.8% Spotted Cow from New Glarus brewery.

But at the same time, it doesn't necessarily make it a worse beer either.
