Chicago area Burns celebration
I'm planning on going to the Celtic Knot in Evanston for their Burns Night celebration on Tuesday, January 25th. I usually arrive around 6:30. They always have good entertainment (my nephew Seamus is performing). That great Celt, Tim Kazurinsky (of SNL fame) usually performs well. Good food, good whisky and they pass around haggis and neeps.
If you're interested in coming, call for reservations. Even though the event isn't on their website yet, they tend to fill up fast. 626 Church St in Evanston. 847-864-1679
The Illinois St. Andrew's Society also has a Burns celebration, but it's a bit formal for my taste.

Thanks for pointing out that I'd left that out (I've edited the original post). It's on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 from about 7-9 pm. I usually arrive around 6:30. Seating is limited so reservations are strongly suggested.

Well, this rab (singular of rabble) is trying to figure out the train and el schedules to see if he can make it up there from the very Southern-most tippy-tip of Chicago and back again. We have a very serious policy about drinking and driving (or NOT driving, to be precise) and thus rely on public transportation when we know that we're gonna imbibe...and if we are going to show up - we are gonna imbibe.
Seriously, I'm trying to figure out the logistics since I would love to attend...more of this anon.
