I stumbled across Bookster recently while searching for the perfect tweed after I lost an eBay bidding war on a handsome moss green House of Edgar crail jacket.

I've come to terms with the fact that I'll probably just have to save my pennies for a custom job, but trying to find a tweed that is just the right shade and tone is proving tricky.

So, which is your favorite?

Ah, perhaps I should have been more specific: Does Bookster have your dream tweed?

I'm partial to mid-tone Derby tweeds, myself; there are probably one or two in Bookster's gallery that might fit the bill.

They do have some nice offerings Tim, but I'm not sure whether or not they make Highland wear. I came across them last year and sent a couple of inquiring emails but never heard back from them. I assumed they weren't interested. I like some of the more dynamic tweeds and could certainly see my self wearing these two at least:

I was actually wondering if one could order tweed cloth from them from which someone else (e.g., USAKilts, STM, etc.) might make a bespoke jacket. (Not that Rocky and Matt et al have a dearth of tweeds to choose from to begin with, of course!)

They do not make Highland attire items, specifically jackets and waistcoats - at least that is what they told me. However, one could easily purchase the tweed material and send it off to your tailor! I had inquired with them a couple of years ago - great website, and even greater tweeds! I love them all - a kilt jacket and waistcoat in all of them, I say!

Lovely collection of tweeds there (wipe drool from corner of mouth).

I have 4 simple herringbone tweed jackets in diferent shades from Jos A Bank's sale about a year ago, but they are normal blazer cut and I haven't the heart to give up wearing them with "normal" work clothes, although they would make nice kilt jackets if cut down properly. Instead have slowly acquired now my third and fourth tweed modern or Argyll jacket and waistcoat sets, which should hold me for a while. I did just pick up 5 yards of a nice heavyweight wool herringbone tweed in brown/black from another online fabric store (don't have the link with me right now) for a decent price. Will probably hold onto it and have someone like Bonnie Heather Greene work it into my fifth Argyll/waistcoat set some day, although I have a few other projects that are in front of that in priority just now.

Gosh, how I love a nice tweed. Don't think I could narrow down the displayed page full of tweeds to anything less than maybe 6-8 must haves, so have book marked it for now and can hopefully avoid visiting it too often until I can afford to order something in one of them---probably just a vest to start out, considering the costs.

Thanks for posting it. Simultaneously entertaining and cruel.
