I started out with Utilikilts too...now I'm about even solid color and tartan...and you're sooo right about the wool kilts.

Hey Abax, any chance of you hitting Queensland? Love to say G'Day and have an ale with yourself and wife (and your kilt!). Very handsome work Matt has done there, you wear it well.
I would be remiss if I didn't tell you it's AS HOT AS BLAZES IN AUSTRALIA, and a 16oz is starting to seriously push the comfort level. Wool breathes but doesn't hyperventilate! As much as I wish it did...
I got by with my 13oz last year thru some tough heat/humidity but am glad I've got the Rkilt now (heavy denim). So be prepared for a shock mate.
Just checked and this region is 94% humidity. Hobart will be more moderate for sure.
That said you'll have a gorgeous time and this huge country will love the kilt, that's from my experience anyway.
