I wanted another McKenzie kilt for colder weather wear, something a bit heavier than the lightweight polycotton one which I bought at Fort Augustus but I wasn't prepared to spend the money right now on another high quality kilt so I ordered this 5-yard 16 oz. polyviscose from The Scotland Kilt Company of South Bridge, Edinburgh. The latest kilt arrived today while I was at court and I hurriedly tried it on as soon as I was home and had opened the parcel. Now I need to buy another McKenzie clan crest kilt pin. This kilt has a much heavier feel than the polycotton McKenzie, but it only has a single buckle on each side. In honour of my great-great-great grandfather John McKenzie, who was a soldier in the Lanarkshire Militia two hundred years ago. He married Paisley born Jean Hamilton at the Glasgow New Gaelic Church in 1803 and later became a carter in Paisley. That the marriage took place in the Gaelic church suggests he may have been of Highland origin. The obligatory pleats shot.

Looks very good...I wouldn't guess that it's only a five yard kilt, it looks like more material. It's one of those kilts that just looks like it was made to be worn with a dress shirt and tie and you wear it well! I'll have to get out the camera and get a shot of the economy MacKenzie that I got from Stillwater's clearance category...that's a five yard acrylic. The Weathered MacKenzie at Stillwater tempts me mightily but I'm trying to stick to wool kilts if at all possible....but the Weathered MacKenzie looks SO nice... Best AA
Nice kilt. I like the tartan.
Very Nice !! You wear it well with the dress shirt and tie!!

how is it pleated? I can't figure out the back.....
Good look!
The kilt looks very good Alex. I have one polyvicose kilt and like it very well. The material is smoother than a wool kilt, but it has a nice body and the pleats look good even after long drives in the car. I'm sure you will enjoy it. Tom
I really like the Mackenzie tartan. Good health to wear it.

ALthough it's not to the sett nor a (particular) stripe, I quite like the effect.
