When I bought my first it was an SWK heavyweight. I too measured myself at 35 1/2 so I ordered a 36" and it was too lose for me. I had to cinch a belt in order to feel comfortable. I did, however, grow into it .

I should have ordered a size smaller with my Lamont heavy weight.
That said, I just cinch the belt up a notch and everything's fine.

As I understand it (and from personal experience with SWK), you should be ordering a little under your waist size, not a little over. A 36" waist SWK will fit a 36 waist, and a little bigger. If you have a 35" waist and you order a 36, it will be too big. You should be ordering a 34", not a 36".

Unlike a few others who have posted here, I have found the sizes to be smack on.

A little less seems correct in my experience.

I have two of Jerry's kilts One standard and one Heavyweight, both 36". I found that the standard fit great so I ordered the heavyweight. Unfortunately the heavyweight is slightly smaller so it does not fit. Unfortunately I made the mistake of removing the basting stitches before I tried it on (no idea why, just excited I guess) so I didn't return it.
Moral of the story is even if one off-the-rack kilt from a supplier (even Jerry) fits don't assume the next one will.
One of these days I will get around to selling the heavyweight...or maybe I'll finish loosing the weight and sell the standard. Hmmm.

Depending on how much you enjoy your holiday season I would order the 34". I ordered a standard kilt one inch small than my natural waist size and still ahve to wear it on the smallest settings. Jerry's service is great; however, I find the standard 24" length to much for my stumpy legs.

My waist is 36" right on at the moment. The 36" large standards are a bit too big. The medium long 34" fits me perfectly. The large "hiker" fits me perfectly. Enjoy! I'm looking for a used SK Hawaiian hibiscus print in a 34" medium long.
