I get the same reaction with any of my kilts:
    Is that a kilt?
Can I feel of the material?
    Why are you wearing that?
Is there some event going on?
    Where did you get that?
What do you wear under it?
    Is it Scot or Irish?
Is'nt it cold wearing something like that on a day like this?
an on an on an on

The clergy tartan has gotten many positive responses.

In my case the best reactions have been to my Holyrood and McLeod of Harris Ancient tartan kilts.

For me, it's my black Workman's Utilikilt. It just brings out The Envy. With tartan kilts, I think people assume that it's a national costume, but with the UK, the guys see it's something they "can" wear, and The Envy takes hold.

    feileadh mhór

This maybe a jump in answering the question, but it would be my feileadh mhór, (belted plaid), in the Malcolm tartan. With all the kilties at Scottish festivals I have people wanting to take my photo. The belted plaid RULES!

Just considering my tailored kilts, the Stewart Black probably draws the most ooohhs & aaahhs.

My black kilts get attention every now and then. Don't have tartan, yet...so...we'll see one day.

I'm wondering what reaction folks give if they saw a black knife-pleated coruroy kilt...

All of them. Just a man in a kilt is enough to get a good reaction. Which one is best, I have no idea. Just all of them.

    reaction

When I wore my kilt (with PC jacket) at the formal dinner on our cruise last December, I was getting a lot of nice comments from the ladies. After the dinner, I was basically getting "hit on" from several these ladies.

    The wife was not amused....

If I knew this when I was 18...I would have avoided many "cold showers".

My Napier blue and white tartan kilt gets the most attention from people. They just aren't colors people expect to see in a kilt.
