Cultural travel spot?
So I've been fascinated by the Isle of Lewis for quite some time now. The fact that 70% of the population uses Gaelic as their primary language is astonishing! I had no idea that anywhere in Scotland still spoke that much Gaelic. I know it is remote...and there's probably not much to do there, but I think it would be extremely fascinating to visit. As an archaeology student, maybe I could use Callanishas an excuse?
...by the way, if you guys don't know, I'm keeping a blog during my semester at Galway. http://wisconsinirish.blogspot.com I'll stick to that most of the time so I don't flood the boards here, just in case you're interested!
