I have a feeling that we are nearly confusing "theory" and "practice" here. I think the guidance(Anderson's) given about what to wear to a formal wedding(morning suits/kilt attire)is pretty sound for the Groom and perhaps immediate family and ushers, but be aware, the guests will tone down their kilt attire a wee tad. At least that is my experience over the last six decades anyway.

Also at the less formal(lounge suits) weddings the tweed argyll is standard wear for any Highland Scot who wishes to attend, wearing the kilt. So again I don't think some of the advice given, is altogether accurate.
