I typically find Laphroig overpowering, however I discovered it went perfectly when a friend broke out a bottle on a camping trip while sitting around the fire on a chilly night. I have always said that if you think that you don't like Scotch Whisky you haven't tried enough of them. I guess i could expand that to say if you think you don't like a single malt, it may be because you simply haven't found the proper situation to drink it in. That being said, despite its popularity i still avoid Macallan (especially their cask strength). They all seem to have a latex taste to me which I do not find pleasant.
