    xman's Highland Kilt #5: Complete

There are a few milestone moments while making a kilt. Certainly finishing the pleats is a big turn as is pressing them in, but the point when the canvas has been sewn in and the apron edges are basted down really feels like I'm 'half way there'. It's when the length of cloth first looks like a kilt from one end to the next.

Here's my new eight yard MacDonald of the Isles Modern pleated to the double black lines. I wanted to pleat to the stripe, but the white stripe and even the red seemed too bold for what I wanted with this one. I wanted a dark profile and I sure got it.

Preparations for the impending holiday season kept getting in my way of being productive on this one, but I got it done just in time. It sounds like we're about to get some snow and colder temperatures for the weekend. I just ordered the cloth for three more, but I don't expect to see it until the end of the year so I guess I'm on kilt-making vacation for the holidays now.
