Looking For MacDonald History
I have always been interested in the clans and septs of Scotland. I myself am a "Jenkins" boy, which has no direct clan affiliations. However this is where I get my Scottish blood (fathers side of course), as I looked more into the clans I decided that I should try my mothers side (German/Cherokee). Her maiden name is "Crum" and as I looked into this I found that one of the septs of Clan MacDonald is Crum. Any historians know why this has come to be? I'm extremely interested, and if Crum is a part of Clan MacDonald, does this give me access to MacDonald tartans and Clan Crests?
Thanks for your time,
Jake
