Westlake Hardware stresses zombie preparedness!
This is awesome! This is an actual hardware store chain. They're new marketing campaign is... well... a scream!
http://www.westlakehardware.com/specialties/zombies
Here's a quick sample from their FAQ's:
"Are there any pesticides formulated for zombie removal?
While there is not a pesticide specifically designed for zombie removal, deer repellent has been known to work, as it simulates a smell quite similar to death, thus deterring the zombies away from the direction of the scent."
Good thing we can protect ourselves. I'm off to watch Shaun Of The Dead now.

Re: Westlake Hardware stresses zombie preparedness!
While I wholeheartedly support being prepared for the Zombie-pocalypse (and bizarre entrepreneurship), I think they're advertising the wrong goods.
A moat of semi-molten pitch is all you really need to keep the zombies away.
You can set it alight, it's sticky enough to slow them down to the point of being easy pickings for even the WORST shot.
That said, not everyone can afford several hundred metric tons of pitch, and I'm sure some neighborhood associations will frown upon the digging of moats in otherwise well-manicured lawns (although they'll be singing a different song when the zombies arrive )

This thread is comforting, Hawk, and just reading the title brought me inner peace... Always good to know there are others like me in this world.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Season II of The Waking Dead airs on Sunday. If you haven't seen this show (and I can't believe I'm going to say this about a zombie TV series, but) the writing is the best thing about it.

Re: Westlake Hardware stresses zombie preparedness!
I've been in central Texas for about 4 years now, and have been plagued by zombies since my arrival. I find that watery, blended Scotch is a good deterrant, along with burnt Scotch oats, undercooked haggis and off key pipes. Also, it doesn't hurt to have a half crazed Ninja patrolling your yard, but that's what seems to work for me. Also, pepper spray.
Nothing says, "I love you" like a sporran full of haggis!!

I just get aggressive with the boom-stick. Although repellant might be the easierway to go. Less risk of getting infected. And less noisy.
I wish I believed in reincarnation. Where's Charles Martel when you need him?

You people are very strange and twisted and weird... And that's why I like this thread.
Know any good zombi jokes?
