Does anyone know if the Pixar/Disney team have tried to keep the movie historically accurate?
According to Wikipedia, it's set in the 10th century, which would be over 200 years before the Fergusson Clan would have been about

I doubt that Disney was trying to be 100 % historically accurate in the movie Brave .

The movie is meant to be an animated film set at a time period to offer a sense and spirit of that time and to offer a bit of humor and deliver a message , as with all Disney movies .

If one wants to " kilt up " to watch Brave , or to " cowboy up " to watch True Grit , I say go for it .

If one wants to " kilt up " or " cowboy up " to watch a movie , go to dinner , go pub crawlin , go to a rodeo , go camping / hiking , go to a highland games , then why not . It's all perfectly fine to me .

It's all part of the spirit of the occasion , no matter how big or small of an occasion . It's all part of what the occasion means to that person .

It's all part of livin' life and enjoyin' life . There are plenty of serious issues in everyone's life and we all work through them . Wearing kilts to movies shouldn't be a serious moment .

It is just COOL to see king Fergus in the movie -I dont care if it is accurate
or not -It is all fun ... You would think it cool to if your clan leader was in the movie and I would say it was cool too . Just have fun with it

I guess it is just a kid's movie. Its just that theres been articles in papers here saying how it's going to bring so much tourism to the area. Of course that's great for Scoland right now, but it looks like it may just bring more people expecting a fake culture or history.
In Edinburgh, there's already so many people parading around in full highland gear while bagpiping, or all these 'tartan tat' shops. I'm just hoping that the movies not going to cause an increase in that kind of thing.

Maybe the Scottish Tourism Board can mount a big add campaign telling all potential tourists to stay home and spend their money elsewhere. That would help to head off such a display of that kind of thing.
