I notice that if you take the link to the photo (https://picasaweb.google.com/GrampaB...76728626800882)
It directs to a a site which says "Sorry, that page was not found".

That would suggest its not a problem with the forum, but either a problem with the google Picasso website, or with copying the link from it.

I used to be able to upload photos from my desktop to my albums here, but I haven't been able to do that today.

I see below that I "may not post attachments" in my posting permissions box. I have never had a problem before, so why am I being denied now? I hope it's just a bug.

we haven't been able to post attachments as far i can remember ever. An attachment is not the same a adding a link to a photo site such as photobucket, the actual link displays the photo from the external source, and doesn't actually affect the memory storage of XMarks itself.
And just to prove posting pictures does work, here are some spring daffodils!
