It is the cringe factor Trefor that I object to and that is/was the same with some of Sir Harry Lauder's attire, the same with Bob Hope's and Bing Crosby's Scottish attire, the same with Laural and Hardy's Scottish attire, the same with several well known Scots singers TV attire and so on. It is the showbiz aspect of Scots attire that many of the unknowing take away as "how it is done" that irritates so and is so difficult to explain to others that, no that is not, "how it is done".
