It is a real shame that the Green Lane Celtic Festival was cancelled needlessly. It came down to local politics and squabbling knuckleheads vs. what was best for the county. I was there as a visitor year one and my pipe band had played there every year after that. It was great to watch a festival grow from just a few vendors to one of the largest Celtic festivals. It was amazing to sit back a see all the family’s having fun and to see people from all walks of life enjoying Celtic heritage. The best was seeing the same faces year after year.
The Celtic Classic is great fun too, awesome bands, dancers, food and drink o’plenty.
If you are out at the Celtic fling this weekend be sure to stop by and say howdy, you can’t miss me as I am the one with the fancy big stick. My band plays at the opening of the gates and again at 5:15 on the chessboard and of course will be kicking off the Ceilidh and will have you jumping out of your seats.
