IsaacW where in Wisconsin? I think the t-neck looks great with the kilt.
Here is a picture from work, wearing Black Watch, not a great one pic but one none the less.

When my kilt came in I checked with HR to make sure they felt it was within the dress code - after explaining that no, it was not common to 'go regimental', they approved. Next was to check with the Boss - again the 'regimental' question, but he was cool with it. Next, the boss's boss (CIO). He said he'd feel a bit weird but that it would be okay on special occasions, and suggested St. Paddy's. It's a foot in the door - I can show up kilted on St. Andrew's day and at the Christmas party. Get them acclimated, and gradually just start wearing it regularly.

Everyone at the office was positive. I got to talk about the history of the kilt and about St. Patrick's likely Scottish origins.

I find that an exceedingly odd question, coming from either HR or the boss, as it would probably get YOU in trouble if you were to ask a female employee what she wears under her skirt or dress.

Both of these are folks that I've worked with for a bit and am on good terms with. For the HR rep, I think the question of wearing a kilt was surprising and might have put them a little off balance. For the immediate boss, he's a former athlete and a man among men, so I was expecting that question.
