Yesterday I was at Ellis Island doing a bit of dancing in the rain with John, the kilted juggler and Mike, the piper.
Lots and lots of tourists were getting on and off the ferry boats and we were all trying to catch their attention and let them know about the special exhibit inside. My guess is that an unusual outfit, like the one described, helps stir people's curiosity about what's going on.
Who knew that Wild Bill Cody, Butch Cassidy (the Sundance Kid) and John Muir, the naturalist and conservationist who helped preserve Yosemite Park - were all Scots!!

    So... I think that's a good thing!

I completely agree, Bonnie Heather Greene (your name always seems like the name of a garden.) I was wearing a kilt that you made when I was there.

The jugglers were there today as well, and they were wonderful with the children - my 6 yo daughter particularly. So much so, that I worried that I had not prepared for the possibility that she would wet her pants from laughter. I was relieved that she didn't have to make the return trip regimental style.

We're going to watch "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," with a different awareness that both "Butch" and "The Pinkerton's" were Scots.

Hugh! You brought me a laugh and a smile with the story about your baby girl !!
I think I should check out that movie to see if they spoke with Scottish accents...

Well you SHOULD check out that movie because it's great, but {spoiler alert} Robert Redford plays Butch Cassidy without a brogue.

I don't remember if Pinkerton has the accent. We'll have to start a thread to discuss it after we watch it.

    Additional spoiler - it's cinema's best not-happy-ending. THE BEST.

BTW, no one wears a kilt with a fringed leather jacket. That's to you Clan Currie!

Also, no one wears a baseball cap. Ha HA! That's back to me.

I was going to head to the the Ellis Island event yesterday but the weather didn't look all that conducive to a ferry ride. Someday I hope to make it to this event, it always sounds like a good one.

Oddly enough while checking out the weather, I thought to look at the NPS website about security and see that they have a no knives rule. Had I not realized that I might have ended up getting it confiscated. Being that many if not most of us wear / carry sgian dhu's with us, that might be something important to have on the event's website.

So now I wait for the parade and for Whiskey Live.

I was sent a photo of that, the weather looked "interesting" at best... Hopefully it'll be better on Saturday!

    Cheers,
