I was wondering about the comfort level . I have an antler handle sgian that I ground off some on the back , exactly as you stated for the same reason . I didn't have a bench grinder ... so I clamped the sgian down and used a hand held drill with a grinding bit . Worked pretty well ... if that's any help .
Of course , as you said , after wearing it at the pub for hours you forgot it was there . I can relate to that , after hours at the pub ... I forget my shoes are there .
All kidding aside , that is a fine sgian indeed , nice work !
Antler is easy enough to grind, but like I said, the steel bolster extends past the handle a bit and it would be great to make that flush. Do you think a grinding drill bit is up for the task of shaving 3 mm of steel all around?
