My Clan Farquharson Tartan Kilt has finally arrived from Burnett's and Struth and my Sister's Mother in Law and I made the trip to Fergus at the Fergus Scottish Corner Shop to pick it up today. It is a Lochcarron 13 oz 4 Yard Casual Kilt. It came with 3 Buckles and Lining. It has the Box Pleating which I am crazy about, And fits me to a T. I have nothing but compliments for the Ladies and Gentlemen at Burnett's and Struth.
After we were finished in Fergus, Meave (who is 96 and loved the trip) and I made our way to St Jacobs, and I picked up the Prince Charlie Jacket and Waistcoat at A Touch of Scotland. It is a Lochcarron, and I got it on sale at the really great reduced price. I know I will not have much chance to wear it, maybe once or twice a year, but it was price that one could not say no to, considering what a expertly made Prince Charlie retails at. I didn't wear the Prince Charlie outside the shop, and Meave and I then went to have a bit of Lunch. Along the way to the Restaurant, I was greeted with smiles, and nods of approval, and when we were finishing lunch, I even got a whistle.
I am attaching some photos my Sister took with my camera on my phone, the quality isn't all that great, but I just wanted to show the Rabble my Tartan Kilt. After wearing this kilt all day, not once did I feel the need to take it off. The one thing I noticed the most about this kilt, is it didn't lose it's shape and restored itself once I got up from sitting. And now that I have my Tartan Kilt, I doubt I'll be wearing my Utility Kilt much, if ever... Next kilt on the list will be my Fraser Ancient Hunting in the 13 oz 4 yard from Lochcarron, But this will be for the Spring.
In case you are wondering what the chain is hanging from the waistcoat, it is the chain for the Pocket Watch that was my Dad's that he bought in Scotland, when he went back about 1947, I thought it would be a nice touch to wear my Dad's Pocket Watch, it would be like a part of him was with me.. And looking at the photos, I realise I need a better sporran to wear with the Prince Charlie, that is on the Wish List. When I wear the kilt more casual, most likely with my Jacobite Shirt, this sporran will do fine.
It was a long 12 weeks, with the last two being the longest, but now that my kilt is here, I know I am going to enjoy wearing it for my Seniors on Fridays. Weather and Cold temperatures and snow permitting.
