    It has Arrived.

My Clan Farquharson Tartan Kilt has finally arrived from Burnett's and Struth and my Sister's Mother in Law and I made the trip to Fergus at the Fergus Scottish Corner Shop to pick it up today. It is a Lochcarron 13 oz 4 Yard Casual Kilt. It came with 3 Buckles and Lining. It has the Box Pleating which I am crazy about, And fits me to a T. I have nothing but compliments for the Ladies and Gentlemen at Burnett's and Struth.

After we were finished in Fergus, Meave (who is 96 and loved the trip) and I made our way to St Jacobs, and I picked up the Prince Charlie Jacket and Waistcoat at A Touch of Scotland. It is a Lochcarron, and I got it on sale at the really great reduced price. I know I will not have much chance to wear it, maybe once or twice a year, but it was price that one could not say no to, considering what a expertly made Prince Charlie retails at. I didn't wear the Prince Charlie outside the shop, and Meave and I then went to have a bit of Lunch. Along the way to the Restaurant, I was greeted with smiles, and nods of approval, and when we were finishing lunch, I even got a whistle.

I am attaching some photos my Sister took with my camera on my phone, the quality isn't all that great, but I just wanted to show the Rabble my Tartan Kilt. After wearing this kilt all day, not once did I feel the need to take it off. The one thing I noticed the most about this kilt, is it didn't lose it's shape and restored itself once I got up from sitting. And now that I have my Tartan Kilt, I doubt I'll be wearing my Utility Kilt much, if ever... Next kilt on the list will be my Fraser Ancient Hunting in the 13 oz 4 yard from Lochcarron, But this will be for the Spring.

In case you are wondering what the chain is hanging from the waistcoat, it is the chain for the Pocket Watch that was my Dad's that he bought in Scotland, when he went back about 1947, I thought it would be a nice touch to wear my Dad's Pocket Watch, it would be like a part of him was with me.. And looking at the photos, I realise I need a better sporran to wear with the Prince Charlie, that is on the Wish List. When I wear the kilt more casual, most likely with my Jacobite Shirt, this sporran will do fine.

It was a long 12 weeks, with the last two being the longest, but now that my kilt is here, I know I am going to enjoy wearing it for my Seniors on Fridays. Weather and Cold temperatures and snow permitting.

You are just just fine, Willie, and wear it well. Love your father's memory piece.

Thanx for a great story! You are so right about the excitement of the arrival of your new kilt. I have two tartan kilts now, my first was a Victoria, City of Gardens tartan in PV from Martin Mills and my second is a 16 oz 8½ yd in The Canadian Maple Leaf tartan, from Locharron. Both of them still make my heart beat a bit faster when I put either of them on .......I doubt and hope the excitement will never lessen when a new kilt arrives.....Good on ya' and CONGRATULATIONS!

Thank you Rex, the best part of yesterday was I could share my day of bringing home my new Kilt with my friend Maeve, and I felt that Dad was along for the ride somehow.

Thanks Terry, I am feeling the Addiction already, I know I said in the Spring for my next kilt, Clan Fraser in Ancient Hunting from Lochcarron in Baririe, in the Medium Weight like my Clan Farquharson, but I feel like I want to order it now. Christmas, the Bills and Rent are convincing me otherwise... I have a Canadian Maple Leaf Tartan Neck Tie from Lochcarron, I love it, One of my future Tartan's is a kilt made from the Nova Scotia Tartan, but it seems the Mills only make it in 10 oz, which I am told is too light of a fabric for a Good Kilt. Tomorrow (Sunday) is our Church's Christmas Festival. It is like a Black Tie affair, so I know as I Usher the entire day, My Prince Charlie will fit nicely. Thanks again.

It is always such joy when your new kilt arrives. It makes it even more joyous when it is such a lovely one too.

Thank you Liam, As soon as I got home tonight, off came the work duds, on went my kilt with Ghillie Shirt, I would dare say I think I am addicted to wearing the Kilt. Even for fun put on the hose and flashes, New Kilt Belt and Buckle and Sporran.

I used to live in Calgary, from 1996 to 2010. Lived on the Northhill. Just off 16th Ave. I Was a film Projectionist, the Westhills was my Bid. Opened it in July of 1996, and was the last Projectionist until 2003, then the Kids who made the popcorn ran the show. Found other things to do until moving to Ontario in 2010.

Thanks Glen, It is a joy, couldn't wait to get home to put it on. Will be wearing it all day tomorrow at my Church, Ushering Morning Services, then the Christmas Festival both Afternoon and Evening. There I will wear my Prince Charlie Jacket and Waistcoat, as the Christmas Festival is a Black Tie Affair for the Choir, Musicians, and Choir Master...
