Kilts and Trench Coats

Good Question.
I never want to ruin the kilt look when out and about. We have been lucky as the weather has been warm here. S i have been loking for ideas as to what overcoat will not ruin the nice kilt look i tried so hard to obtain.
An Inverness coat? Any photos?

Wish I could afford an Inverness cape....or rather wish I didn't love hand sewn kilts more.

Have worn kilts with an Aussie Drover, a Naval officer's bridge coat, and even a replica U.S. Civil War era Cavalry greatcoat...which is a little over the top but certainly warm and dry with its waistlength cape.

Have thought about if the cavalry greatcoat could be altered into an Inverness Cape but the color is just too locked into Civil War cavalry (light blue) and the many buttons mark it as military.

Anyhow, way I figure it is if the weather is foul enough that I need a greatcoat of some sort chances are nil that anyone is paying attention to me, so, what the heck - go with what's practical to protect the kilt.
