Do you want a "traditional" style kilt or a modern one?

Barb's book is great for trads.

The X-Kilt is a great plan for a modern one.

And please remember there is no real pattern. Not in the sense of "place this pattern over your fabric and cut out. Then sew on the lines."
A kilt is made from one rectangle of fabric. No cutting out of pieces. It is all in how you fold the pleats and stitch them down.

Your local Library may have a copy of Barb's book. But I suggest you buy a copy if you have even a passing interest in making your own Traditional Style kilt.

If you want to make a Contemporary Style Kilt the X-Kilt is a good set of instructions for a box pleated kilt.

"The Art of Contemprary Kiltmaking" is still being written and I appoligise to everyone for not spending more time working on it.

Perhaps you can join us at Kilt Kamp 2007 in June.

    I wear the kilt because:
