I have no connections with the fashion industry but I really do not think it tries to cast doubt upon your masculinity for wearing a kilt! It is the ignorant unwashed members of the general public who might do that.
Also, I take exception to your use of the derogatory expression "flaming twinks" in your last sentence. In this day and age the use of such is nothing but insulting and I would ask you to remember that this is a public forum to which members' children have access.
