    Looks **** to me, and not very traditional, either in the hilt material, hilt profile, or the use of poorly executed checkering. Not to my taste; YMMV.

    From the description it seems like a good deal and might even be functional. Carved buffalo horn and carbon steel. Carbon steel generally means it can be decently sharpened.

    To enhance my understanding, since I'm ignorant of quality of construction for things like this, what are you seeing that indicates poorly executed checkering and **** manufactuer?
