I also was wondering if there was only one way to wear it as well. Or is there different way? Does it just go over the shoulder and hang, I thought I've say some tuck it in the back? Sorry for my novice questions.

It is worn over the left shoulder, pinned with the brooch and it hangs over the shoulder. It is not unusual for the bottom point to be brought back up and pinned to the top of the kilt (or tucked under the belt) if you are wearing one while country dancing. I know some friends, who are very into Scottish country dancing who have a small garment hook sewn to the bottom point of the plaid. It can't be seen but it makes the plaid very easy to put up and down. Some will leave it hooked all the time and it looks fine.
