Hi all, I'm new here, but based off of this link, I actually purchased this sgian dubh and thought I would report back as it has just arrived.
First, I'm no specialist in this area, I am having a scottish themed wedding and decided I would give sgian dubh's as groomsmen gifts. My problem is I have 8 groomsmen, so that ruled out high dollar ones (someday, I'll get one for myself). I also didn't want anything with a composite or plastic handle or hilt. The one that arrived has the same hilt and bands, but the handle is different. First, it does not go in, then go back out. It has two "notches" on each side, they go in about an 1/8 of an inch and are beveled. I'm 99% sure this is wood, but it's nice and dark, so it will work very well for a formal occasion. The etching is much more suttle and more 'traditional' I guess is how I would describe it. The weight is good, and the hilt is leather bound. It looks like the same blade as above. Those are all the positives.
The negatives: the bands are a little cheapy looking, the blade is not sharpe, and is loose in the hilt.
Overall: I like it, especially for the price. It fits perfectly for what I wanted and what I wanted to spend. I fixed the loseness by putting some cardboard down in the hilt and jamming the blade in a couple of times, fixed it right up. For the price, I think it's a great investment. I ordered from Chickadeetc.com on Thursday or Friday and it arrived today. My only two disappointments is I paid $12 for shipping and wasn't given an option for a cheaper, though perhaps longer shipping time and it didn't come in a presentation box, just wrapped up really well and put in a cardboard box. I will see if I can find time Wednesday to take a picture and load it up so all can see.

PS I like ya'll's website, very informative.
