I have a UK workman's 30 that is a perfect fit. I also have both a denim and a mocker in 31. And both of them start to bunch up around my waist when I buckle them adequately to hold them up. This compromises both comfort and appearance to some degree. In my experience there is just about zero adjustability in a UK. Stick with what fits, I say.
I've kilt for less.
