So sad. And sadly unnecessary. There are so many alternate delivery systems for nicotine these days...inhalers, patches, gums, losenges, etc.
Have lost many relatives and friends to smoke delivered nicotine addiction, its a slow and painful process.

I used to teach smoking cessation classes for the American Cancer Society but have come to believe that the first step is to find an alternate nicotine delivery system. Its not the nicotine that kills, its the smoke. Folks seem to do best on the inhalers since they mimick the ingrained physical behaviors of smoking.

I know your friend's spirit felt honored by your presence.

Hmm. My monitor is a little wonky with dark colors, and it just looks flat black to me. Is this like Stillwater's "shadow tartan" in black?

Snakeyes, yes life seems short. However my friend as I said committed his life to God, as such, his life will be eternal...but I can't speak much of that here.
Derek, lovely kilt, and that looks suspiciously like Hamish's garden!
That tartan is on my wish list, and with the way my friends are dying...I'll need it (not that I am saying that it's good only for funerals, that is clearly not true).

Ron, you know how I feel about the evils of tobacco, but last year I had another friend die of bone cancer. He was a naturopath, a real health nut all his life and a one-time marathon runner.

 Goes to show eh?
I still think we have ab obligation to look after our health. Apart from food and diet, I'm convinced that attitude is a major factor. If that is true, then kilt-wearers must have a better chance of living healthy because kilts improve the feeling of self-worth, freedom etc....you all know that
