    I'll also use a solid black waistband on kilts that are very long, for the exact reason Mike said -- there isn't enough of the cloth left over after splitting the fabric to get a tartan waistband from. I'll also use a black waistband on kilts that I've had to let out (because the original tartan waistband is no longer long enough!).

    Looks great Mike. Rob really does make some great looking kilts. I have had the pleasure of being in his workshop and seeing some of his work. I am still impressed to this day.

    I can't wait to see the kilt in person.

    I am quite jealous. MacGregor is my first choice of tartan, due to my mother's lineage.

    However, I cannot currently afford that, so I shall stifle my jealousy.
