I got just my Lamont Ancient (pictures in due time will be posted) from Matt Newsome. I wore it this past weekend to the Tacoma WA Highland games, fun was had by all. It was my first venture in a kilt, much easier than I expected. As far as I know I didnt flash anybody ( I didnt hear any groans or laughter).
The Kilt fit just great and is top quality sewing according to my wife who is a fair seamstress. I can't do buttons.
THANKS MATT
I got my belt from Steve @ Oconee Leather Works, it looks great also.
my hats off to both vendors who were very patient with a newbie, I had a million questions and they gave great guidance. Thanks Guys

Congratulations. I just ordered an ancient Lamont from Matt this weekend. I have awhile to wait yet. But will endure.

My first Kilt an 8 yard "Tank" which I bought some years ago in the 90's is in Lamont. The family name being Lemon(d) the d was dropped some time in th early 1900's acording to my father. I have a couple of casual kilts but sadly niether in Lamont! However I have recently become aware of the Kilt making talents of Mr. Matt Newsome and am saving my pennies for one of his 4 yard box pleated kilts! Which I should like to have made in Lamont. I seem to be on my way to becoming an every day kilt wearer!
Cheers,
Mike

I have posted several pictures of my 16 oz 9 yard Ancient Lamont Kilt, it was made by Lochcarron of Lochcarron fabric. It was well worth the money. I have worn it numerous times, it should last me for a lot of years. Kilts can be expensive, but properly cared for they will last several generations.
Matt's box pleat kilts are an excellent buy, I'm planning on hanging one in the Brown tartan in my closet one day. I've just got to work my way through this kilt buying moratorium.
One of my Lamont ancestors ran off with a Campbell lady and married her, I'm glad he did.

Actually the Clan name is pronounced 'Lemon it' if my phonetic enuciation is proper. That came as quite a surprise to me.

Lamont is prononced closer to "Lamb-it" My family name Lemond (a variation) was prononced acording to my father
"Lamb-und" but when the d was dropped it was just plain Lemon like the fruit...
Cheers,
Mike

I never heard it sound like a lemon.
It's more Lam-'nt with the emphasis on the first syllable and is normally said quickly.
Of course we once had a Tory Chancellor of the Exchequer who pronounced it La Mont as in Danny La Rue

Interesting - not only all of the possible spelling variations, but in enunication as well. Mine is probably more a matter of accent - Texas-Cajun-Southern drawl and all.
