I talked to Jerry about the US Army tartan a few weeks back.
Edited to add: I will buy any kilt he offers in that tartan, from thrifty to wool heavy weight.

Go figure. If I recall correctly (and I may not) when Rocky at USA Kilts tested the waters for a special run of Leatherneck tartan kilts not enough responded. Then the Army tartan did make enough for a special run.
Course it may be because some folks, like me, would only want their leatherneck done in a top of the line hand sewn...but that's just a guess.

I know I emailed him about the USAF tartan... I'd be buying 3 in that tartan if he offered it (1 for me.. and both my sons want one too)

In my case, I really like the leatherneck tartan. But my head has never been Jarred. Worked with them, trained with them, sailed with them and even sired one.
So I wear it to honor my son's service. I did have to take the tag out of the waistband, can't bring myself to wear the emblem even inside a waistband. Remember watching my lad get his, it is a very special moment indeed.
It is the most handsome kilt in my limited newbie collection, and gets lots of compliments. Even from the lads at the warehouse. (don't wear it there very often).
For me the value received far exceeded my expectations based on the price paid, with all of my SWK kilts.
Ron, that box pleater might make a fine "stunt double" for a hand-sewn, no? That is how I see my SWKs'. I am determined to own and wear some nice TANKS. No matter what. But right now I want a kollection I can wear in my world. Warehouse, Pub, Woodlot, Wal-marche, couch patrol, kettle bell lifting, all those fun things we unwashed are wont to do.
I will immediately crank off an email to Jerry about a Navy tartan....
