I've run into very few other kilted people but every time I do it's like we are long-lost relatives or something. I met a guy in a kilt once when I was at the beach with a friend and instantly struck up a long conversation with the guy. When we left, my friend asked me how long I had known the guy and I told him I just met him.
There are 10 kinds of people in the world...
Those that understand binary, and those that don't.

I have to add a small "Me Too" to this. I live in Oceanside, California, just south of the big Marine Base Camp Pendleton. I seldom see others kilted. Sure I have a few friends, that gather everyonce in a while, and I have influenced a few to get kilted, but as a general rule, I don't run into anyone kilted.
Just this morning, at our local ROMEO meeting (I guess I should tell you that ROMEO stands for Retired Old Men Eating Out) I was leaving (we meet at a local Denny's resturant) and another kilted gent was coming in.
I was in my USMC SWK Standard, and he was in a SWK Wallace Economy. I even surprized myself by recognizing the Wallace tartan. We stood outside BS'ing for so long that his wife came out to ask if he was going to eat. Turns out he is a traveler from Nova Scocia, full time kilter, and has been on X-Marks.
We had a lot in common, and it's too bad that this gent won't be in the area.
Thanks for your story, and I hope you don't mind me adding mine.

Well, here's another one.
I live in Fairbanks, Alaska. I know of 2 or 3 other guys that wear a kilt here in town, but have never run into them, until summer solstice.
I was checking out the street fair with my family, meandering up and down the streets. I noticed a guy wearing a tartan kilt, just up the block. Holy smokes....I wasn't the only kilted guy out that night! We ended up running in to each other and had a nice little chat, and his girlfriend took a picture of us together. Anyhow.. it is nice to run into others every now and again....

Haven't had that experience yet. Sounds like a good thing.

Sad to say it is much the same here in Scotland. I always get a warm feeling when I see others wearing the kilt but it is such a rare thing.
