Thank goodness for the search function, because I most likely would have ended up in the Dos and Don't thread as a don't if it weren't for this thread.

Indeed, whenever I have a question on basic issues I do a search, the topic has usually been kicked around, and helpful advice provided. Especially on all those urgent newbie issues most of us have faced at one time, like "how do you use the public facilities in one of these things?" or "where does one affix the rubber chicken?"

We all know to replace the sporran chain with a strap but there is still the question --- When affixing the chicken to the strap is the proper way head up or head down? Also, my chicken came without Silver Tassels and I was wondering if it would still be appropriate for formal wear? Could I substitute the tin foil booties that are sometimes found on Turkeys? Or would that clash?

I think it would work if you used gold foil, Steve, but the regular aluminium colour might just clash.

And armadillos have made it as ar north as central Missouri now, as evidenced by roadkills. I have even heard rumours of them here in the cornpatch, but as of yet that is unsubstantiated. They do appear to be planning to invade Canada at some point. I think all you folks north of the border there ought to arm yourselves appropriately. Not really sure what is appropriate for armadillos, hmnnnn.... Maybe we should have that hero team, (whasit called, the Dove squad?) investigate this when they get some free time.

The "proper" way of wearing a rubber chicken is thusly



No chain, feet at the equater, head down (yes ladies, it hangs to my knee) and the booties would just make it look ridiculous.
