I still cannot puzzle out how the Antarctic tartan won that poll considering how many more kilts in the "losing" tartans are actually owned!

My forefathers came from Skye, and its a beautiful tartan so I had one sewn up by Kathy Lare.
During the clearances they were shipped to Nova Scotia and hung around there for three generations, so eventually want a Maple Leaf too.
Decided to have it hand sewn out of 16 oz too. Its one of those tartans I want to properly honor with a top of the line kilt. So, a wait while the plastic stops smouldering and eventually cools down.

It may be because the Antarctica tartan is not as widely available or as widely known.

The corallary to Barb's comment is that the Antarctic tartan is more unusual than the Isle of Sky, ergo more appealing to we jaded kilties. IOS is a really lovely tartan, but so many X Markers have it, that it has almost become the "X Marks the Scot Hunting Tartan".

Precisely Barb - people were voting on a little electronic swatch rather than from their own personal knowledge.
And the proof of the pudding is surely in seeing it in reality. No swatch can compare with seeing it as a real kilt!
If anyone actually has a kilt in this tartan we want pics!
