I'm sorta surprised that Jeff gave it up altogether. I realize that the computer stuff is a steady job and likely pays much better....but he seemed to really love it, kilt making that is. I figure he might do it only as a hobby now at least. *shrug*
Suggest it to Steve and call it a "challenge". He likes challenges almost as much as coffee.

I only have one PK. It has gotten a lot of use over the last few years, and aside from one or two loose threads is still good as new (almost). I sympathize with Riverkilt though. I am finding that the darn thing has shrunk. Tightes to loosest, and I'm still going to have to move the hooks soon.

Sure would like Jeff to get back to it.

I have exactly two kilts, a black UK and an ultrasuede PK that I adored! Wore it on more than a couple of performances and although I've sort of fallen out of kilt wearing lately (and all my clothes from then, including my kilts, have mysteriously shrunk...) I have that beautiful ultrasuede packed carefully away for the day I regain my senses (and my waistline).

Jeff was a joy to work with and, as I recall, made my kilt in record time. My mother-in-law occasionally asks if I still have it (and why I'm not wearing it).

    PK for new home

Does anyone want a PK with a waist measurement in the neighborhood of 37"? I suppose I should find them a home.
What do they look like? Any pictures?

    Thanks,

1 MARPAT (desert) PK, 1 MARPAT (jungle) PK, one denim PK lined with nice soft plaid cotton. Great kilts, all. Jeff was an artist.

I have two PK in my closet, one was my work kilt in the kitchen before retirement replacing my USA Victory, it has taken a beating and while it has needed a few repairs, all the result of me mistreating the garment, it is a great kilt for everyday wear. The other, is a real beauty, solid black in a material that many of the higher end dress slacks are made out of, with a button up shirt and tie and jacket it is very "corporate" looking.

    Hi guys.
I am new to the site and posted in the DIY section pictures of the kilts I have made so far.
One was inspired by PK which I stumbled upon when trying to find instructions to make a kilt.
There are a few pictures of one I did in black, with a red and black plaid insert. (I say plaid because it is like a shirting material, don't know if it is a certain tartan or not)

    That was in this thread:
    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/n...507/index.html

Anyway, for those wondering how to; here is what I did.
I cut the inserts out to the depth of the pleats and then measured and stitched them onto the black fabric before pleating.
I covered the entire length of the black fabric. (from hem to waist)
In hindsight, when I make another I will go just to the fell.
Not necessary to have all that other material to work around at the top.
Then it was just a matter of pleating to the inserts.

It was time consuming, and a pain in the butt, however I am pretty happy with the results and think it came out looking pretty good.
I get a lot of positive comments when I wear that kilt.

That was only the second kilt I had made and was still trying to figure out what I was doing too.
I plan on making another with the inserts in the very near future.
I will be sure to post pictures of the results when I get it done.

    Happy Kilting, Gary
