Since Corvettes are made in Kentucky, maybe some of the 'vette owning X Markers might want to kick in?

They are indeed made right here in KY in Bowling Green, even toured the plant once, thats a great idea! Will put it out there!

My family goes further east towards the hills to Rowan County and the Morehead area. Been in KY for 150+ years as near as we can figure...need that kilt!

My 6th great-grandfather John Scoby (b.1720 Scotland) came to the Stone Creek, Clark Co. area in the later 1700's (his eldest son, my 5th g-grandfather was born in 1776 in Kentucky).

An interesting side note, his name was spelled Scoby in Scotland & in the 1800 census. Then in the 1810 census he's listed as Scobie, and his son's as Scobee (my relatives current spelling), however an 1806 taxpayer list had him as Scobee!

No wonder there is so much confusion in genealogy research!

It really is gettting daunting, "Cox" (my surname) is pretty common in Kentucky and am getting all kinds of hits from both Irish and Scottish ties, also in that part of the state and that far back, shoot the "family bible" was considered an "official" record!!! The other family name is not as common but the Bowens seem to But going to keep it up but you can see where the Kentucky Tartan would just COVER IT ALL! (literally and figuratively..ha ha)

Well, I'm from Kentucky and own a Corvette, but a Brown and a McGregor Tartan Kilt are next on my wish list.

BTW Shawn are you a descendant of the Cox family that owned Cox's Mill (the first grist mill in Kentucky) in Eastern Kentucky?

BTW, Texas also has a State tartan. It's called the Bluebonnet tartan after the state flower.

As far as I know I am not. As you know Cox is a pretty common name in Kentucky, my family both Cox and Bowen hail from the Rowan County (Morehead) area then from there looks like its back to Virginia, but thats as far as I have gotten.

Stay tuned for the Kentucky Tartan / Kilt quest though, you might want to get on board, I'll let ya even if you do have a 'vette HA HA HA (am a Mustang fan but lets face it have you seen the new Z-01 coming out...for a cool $100K can go 200 mph BAD *** Thoroughbred for sure!)

Well sir then you are in good company as you now Gen. Morgan was from Lexington, the "Heart of the Bluegrass". Fun story (who knows if true or not) was that when being pursued through Lexington (after raids in Indiana and thereatened Cincinnati) he rode his horse right up the front steps, into the house, kissed his darlin' momma and rode out the back door.

And speaking of John Hunt Morgan, I pass his statue nearly every day on the way home from work. His horse was a mare, yet the statue's sculptor believed that "no hero should be atop a mare," and he added a couple of things to its undercarriage. It is not uncommon for local rogues to paint the bits 'n' pieces, sometimes in UK blue, in protest, although I haven't seen it done in quite a while.
