Fun story (who knows if true or not) was that when being pursued through Lexington (after raids in Indiana and thereatened Cincinnati) he rode his horse right up the front steps, into the house, kissed his darlin' momma and rode out the back door.
And speaking of John Hunt Morgan, I pass his statue nearly every day on the way home from work. His horse was a mare, yet the statue's sculptor believed that "no hero should be atop a mare," and he added a couple of things to its undercarriage. It is not uncommon for local rogues to paint the bits 'n' pieces, sometimes in UK blue, in protest, although I haven't seen it done in quite a while.
"No hero should be atop a mare"... hmmm. I'm too much of a lady to make a joke about that one.
