That's what I call forward thinking but here in Scotland we would wear our normal kilt - no-one would expect otherwise - but with a white shirt and black tie. Jacket would be daywear tweed style. I posted elsewhere that I had read somewhere about wearing black hose although I would just wear the normal self-coloured ones.

That WAS one of the original thoughts when I bought my SWK Black Stewart... I also find that the red on it is a bit bright, though.

I would agree with this.. what better way to show respect than to wear "your" tartan. Is there any reason why you would want to wear something different? And sort of off topic, but I have seen many posts on a few threads now about the black hose/funeral connection, and other than from a few members here, I have never heard of such a thing.

You could always add a black armband to that outfit. Some of the funeral parlors still provide them to pall-bearers.

The one and only thing I change when attending a funeral (and I attend quite a lot of them) is that I put on a black tie; the only occasion I wear it.
I personally can't imagine why anyone would dress like Darth Vader all in black, especially with so many nice tartans to choose from.

I don't think you're heartless. I had a girlfriend once who talked to me on the phone for an hour about what she was going to wear to her grandmother's funeral. Somehow planning these material concerns eases the stress a bit. It's an important moment of transition and it's nice to have control over SOME part.
On that note, I am buying a stillwater nightstalker with funerals in mind.

Ask them when they are still living which of your current kilts they like. (They don't have to know why) And then wear that one in their honor.
