Thanks James, this is just a regular looking suit vest that came with the jacket I am going to have converted. I'm trying to raise a stink about it, so I can get a good idea about what I need to do.
Would the cut away for the sporran in the jacket show the vest if the jacket were closed?

I need to get up and find the two jackets that I have that have vests and see. But I almost never (I can't remember the last time) button my kilt jackets. - - - so the point is mute, to me.
Before I hit the sack, I'll try the ones on that I have and let you know tomorrow. My gut feeling is if you button the jacket the bottom of the vest is hidden.

Weno. I'll keep an ear on this thread, thanks. And ya, Hamish said you should never button the jacket if wearing a vest, so I might just not worry about it.

OK - I went and tried them on, and the bottom of the vest is covered on my conversions.

That's correct: the vest should work without modification.
My next (second) conversion is the jacket of a three-piece corduroy suit.

Ok, I'm working on getting a brown corduroy vest and jacket converted. The vest will need to be made a little larger around the waist, but I've been told that can be done easily. I guess it should probably be made to match the curved front of the jacket.

Very nice, Yeti has asked me to convert a brown corduroy jacket he has, but I won't be doing it. The reason I won't do it is that I flat out refuse to touch corduroy. I hates the way it feels, weird sensory issue according to my mom.

Have we uncovered a different side of you than previously known? What could possibly be different from the ribs on cordoroy than on a fine, tightly knitted pair of kilt hose? -And I know you are familiar with a fine, tightly knitted pair of kilt hose........

I can understand that, String. Textures can do that, but wouldn't you want to try to get Yeti to use a different jacket for the conversion...?
BTW, I've had to start looking for a different person to do the jacket conversion, and the whole thing is on hold for a while. I'm also collecting links and information on it too.

Knitted ribbing is very different in feel and construction from the raised pile of corduroy. trust me. I have several sensory issues other than corduroy, such as dry towels (mostly can handle that) cotton balls or anything like q-tips with the cotton fluff.
