Kilt belts with velcro adjustment?

Does anyone have opinions/experience with kilt belts with the velco adjustment?

Are they comfortable?
Are they bulky?

My buddy just got one, and it seems to work good. But I would agree that it is a little more bulky that I am used to. Especially at the point from where the velcro attaches to where the buckle is. I think I personally prefer a standard 3" belt that's not velcro, but it does work well for my friend I believe.
