The tartans museum sells an awsome hand-knit broad bonnet that ends up having quite a similar effect as one of the larger "8 panel" deals, when arranged correctly. It is better for a historic look, but if you should happen upon a cold winter day where you're wearing a big coat, they seem to look pretty good for modern purposes.
