    That's a matter of opinion, and many would have a contrary view. In fact, yours seems to be the only voice advocating off-white socks thus far on this thread. What may have been fashionable 30 years ago (back in 1979, when Mr. Thompson wrote his book) seems to be rapidly falling from fashion, especially with younger men. It seems to me that the jury is in on this one-- dark hose is the way to go with formal attire.

    Sounds awesome to me. Congratulations for having the nerve to do it and the sense to seek advice about doing it right. I also would prefer the colored hose, although I do sometimes wear the creme.

    One other bit of advice, make sure this is clear with the dress code. Forgiveness is not easier to get than permission and I'd hate to see you go through the emotional turmoil some people have had to deal with in the past.

    Go with a Dress Sporran, as the prom should be a formal event a Dress Sporran such as the one pictured below would be appropriate
