I think that this is key to having the kilt accepted!!! At least it has been the case in my experience.
I know that I pay much more attention to how I look now that I am kilted full time. I try to match leathers: Browns together or blacks together. I pay attention to shirt colors, hose colors and the flashes too.
All-in-all, I seem to be dressing much better kilted than I ever did in my jeans and t-shirt period (which after all lasted for many years!)
Way to go Casey!!!

thanks everyone. it was a great week. now as far as a BSA tartan.
I wish, the Boyscouts of Ireland and Scotland allow kilts as part of the class A uniform. the BSA does not however. but, I like to push things and all I got was complements. I did get razzed by a few older scouts but I don't care. they stopped when they saw the green adult wrist band.

Is Scouting great or what? Did the Scouts have a goood time? How many merit badges did they earn? I've been involved with Scouting over the past 25 + years and am currently a Unit Commissioner. Our Troop always got dressed for meals and assemblies in our best uniforms, but the rest of the time we left it up to the Scout. They usually stayed uniformed because of the fact that they were at Scout Camp. Congratulations!

Not that I'm aware of. There are two "Scottish Scout" tartans. One (ITI #1294) is like the Black Watch, except that it is entirely in black and shades of gray. The other (ITI #1463) is similar to the MacLaren clan tartan, but much more green. I had the impression that the latter was part of the Scottish Boy Scout uniform, but from pictures I have been able to find online, it appears the Scottish Scouts wear kilts in clan tartans (or trousers). I don't suppose it makes sense for the organization to bear the cost of outfitting all the boys in kilts. The MacLaren clan tartan is also associated with the Boy Scouts due the early involvement of a MacLaren (or two) in the Scouting movement. In the BSA it is worn on the neckerchief presented to those who have completed Wood Badge training. Because of this connection, the Clan MacLaren Society of North America offers non-voting membership in their organization to anyone who has completed their Wood Badge training.
